Our New Drink Crush

April 20, 2011

With the temperatures rising, all of us here at JOY HQ craving a thirst-quenching drink. So when we heard about a brand new drink and snack store opening just round the corner from our Soho store, we made a little squeal of JOY. Bubbleology serves the amazingly inventive Bubble Tea. What is this I hear you ask!

Well…. The origins of bubble tea are found in Taiwan, where the drink was invented in the early 1980′s. Bubble Tea is the name given to the wide variety of refreshing flavoured fruit teas and milk teas served ice cold or piping hot with chewy natural tapioca balls that you suck up through a big fat straw! The phenomenon spread fast through Asia, to China (where our Creative Director has sampled it with the review of “YUM!”), and then rushing off to Australia and North America.

The founder of Bubbleology, who is only known as ‘Professor A’ experienced bubble tea when living in New York, and after moving back to London, he realised that we here need to experience the joy that is bubble tea!

Bubbleology opens tomorrow at:

49 Rupert St, Soho, London, W1D 7PF
